Package

The health check-up packages the hospital runs, grouped by what each one looks at, with the full test list where it has been published.

A health check is a fixed set of tests done in one visit, read at the end by a doctor. This page lists the check-up packages the hospital runs and what each one looks at, so you can ask for one by name.

Prices are not shown here. The prices this page used to carry were from 2024 and none of them has been confirmed as current, and an out-of-date price on a medical service is worse than no price at all. Ring +91 40 4699 9999 and the health check-up desk will tell you what a package costs today and what is in it.

If you are ill right now, a check-up package is the wrong thing to book. See a doctor. And if you have sudden weakness down one side, a drooping face, slurred speech or sudden loss of vision, come to the emergency department or call 040 4699 9999. Do not book and wait.

Which check is for you

The hospital's own guidance is that a health check is worth having if you are over 40, if chronic or lifestyle illness runs in your family, or if you already carry a risk factor such as diabetes or high blood pressure.

From there the choice is simpler than the list looks. If nothing in particular is worrying you and you just want a baseline, start with a general check. If one illness runs in your family, or you already have it, go to the check named for that part of the body: the heart, the kidneys, the liver, diabetes, the bones. If a doctor has asked you to get checked, take their note to the check-up desk and let them pick the package from it.

Several packages come in a version for men and a version for women, and two are written for people over 60. What differs between the male and the female version is not published, so ask the desk before you choose.

What a package costs

Prices are confirmed on enquiry. Ring +91 40 4699 9999, or send a WhatsApp message to +91 89776 11153, or email contact_us@virinchihospitals.com, and ask for the health check-up desk.

Ask for two things at once: the price today, and the list of tests in the package. Those are the two things that decide whether a package is right for you, and the desk holds both.

What the visit involves

The hospital asks people coming for a health check to reach the hospital early, to come fasting where possible, to bring any past records, and to allow 4 to 5 hours for the tests and the evaluation that follows. Bringing a family member with you is advised.

The visit ends with a doctor going through the results with you. Do not skip that consultation: the tests on their own are a set of numbers, and the point of the check is what the doctor makes of them.

How to read the list below

Six packages have a written test list, and those six are printed in full. For the rest, the hospital is putting the contents in writing, so the entry gives the name and what the package looks at, and the check-up desk can tell you the rest. Where no test list appears under a name, ask the desk for it.

Some of these packages have been renamed since the list was drawn up. If the desk does not recognise a name, say what you want checked instead.

General checks, when nothing in particular is wrong

These look across the whole body rather than at one system: blood counts, blood sugar, cholesterol, kidney and liver function, a chest X-ray, a scan of the abdomen, an ECG, and a consultation. They differ in how many tests are in them. Two of them, Quick-15 and the essential health check, have their lists published below.

  • Executive health check.
  • Virinchi platinum health check, male.
  • Virinchi platinum health check, female.

Cell Health check package

A screening package covering the main organ systems in one visit, open to anyone aged 18 or over. Its test list was chosen by a team of clinicians across specialities, and further imaging is done at no extra cost where a result warrants a closer look. It has its own page, at /comprehensive-health/, with the full list of what it covers.

Heart checks

For someone with heart disease in the family, or with high blood pressure, high cholesterol or diabetes already. Both of the checks below are listed in full. The difference between them is that the advanced check adds a treadmill stress test, an echo and the apolipoprotein and homocysteine panels, which look at cardiac risk in more detail.

Chest pain, or breathlessness that has come on suddenly, is not something to book a check for. Come to the emergency department.

  • Preliminary cardiac check II: a second cardiac screen listed separately from the preliminary cardiac check below. Test list not published yet.

Preliminary cardiac check

A first look at the heart: an ECG and a 2D echo alongside the blood tests that carry cardiac risk. Thirteen items.

  • Serum uric acid
  • C-reactive protein (CRP)
  • Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH)
  • ECG
  • 2D echo
  • OPD consultation

Advanced cardiac check

A fuller cardiac work-up. It adds a treadmill stress test, which records the heart while you walk, to the echo and the blood work, and it looks at cardiac risk through the apolipoprotein and homocysteine panels as well as the standard lipid profile. Twenty-four items.

  • Complete blood count and peripheral smear (CBC)
  • Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR)
  • Blood grouping and Rh typing
  • Complete urine examination (CUE)
  • Fasting blood sugar (FBS)
  • Glycosylated haemoglobin (HbA1c)

  • Absolute diabetic check: a diabetes panel with more tests in it. Test list not published yet.

Systemic health check, liver

Liver function tests with an ultrasound scan of the abdomen. Thirteen items.

Kidneys and urinary tract

Two of these are screening checks for someone with diabetes, high blood pressure or kidney disease in the family: the systemic kidney check listed below, and the nephro health check mini and maxi.

The rest are not general screens. They are the panels run for people already under the care of the kidney unit, or already on dialysis, and a doctor normally orders them rather than a patient choosing one. They are listed here because the hospital sells them by name.

  • Nephro health check mini: a short kidney panel. Test list not published yet.
  • Nephro health check maxi: a longer kidney panel. Test list not published yet.
  • Nephro regular profile: a routine kidney panel. Test list not published yet.
  • Kidney stone health check: for someone who has had, or is suspected of having, stones. Test list not published yet.
  • 24-hour urine package: tests on urine collected over a full day. Test list not published yet.
  • Nephrotic check: for nephrotic syndrome, where protein is lost in the urine. Test list not published yet.
  • Renal anaemia profile: anaemia in kidney disease. Test list not published yet.

  • Dialysis panel: the blood tests run for someone on dialysis. Test list not published yet.

Systemic health check, kidney

Kidney function measured on blood and on urine, including a 24-hour urine collection, with an ultrasound scan of the abdomen. Fifteen items. The 24-hour collection means the test starts the day before you come in.

  • Fasting blood sugar (FBS)
  • Random blood sugar (RBS)
  • Renal function test (RFT)

Checks named for women or for men

The general checks, the senior citizen checks and the cancer screening checks each come in a version for men and a version for women. The packages below are written for one sex only.

What differs between a male and a female version is not published. Ask the check-up desk.

Checks for people over 60

Written for older people, one version for men and one for women.

  • Senior citizen health check, male. Test list not published yet.
  • Senior citizen health check, female. Test list not published yet.

Cancer screening

Screening looks for a cancer in someone with no symptoms. It is not the right route for a lump, a change you have noticed, or bleeding that is new. Those need a doctor now, not a package.

  • Cancer screening check, male. Test list not published yet.
  • Cancer screening check, female. Test list not published yet.

If you are unwell now

A check-up package is for someone who feels well and wants to know where they stand. If you are ill today, see a doctor instead: the doctor orders the tests that fit your symptoms, which is not the same as a fixed panel.

The one package here for someone who is already unwell is the fever profile, the set of tests run to find the cause of a fever. It is normally ordered by the doctor who sees you.

Come to the emergency department, or call 040 4699 9999, for chest pain, breathlessness, sudden weakness or numbness down one side, a drooping face, slurred speech, sudden loss of vision, a fever with confusion or a stiff neck, or bleeding that will not stop. For an ambulance, call 1800 2024.

  • Fever profile: the tests run to find the cause of a fever. Test list not published yet.
